"The Deserter" tells the story of a young man forced to join the Confederate army during the Civil War. Because he does not want to fight he decides to run away and is subsequently hunted down by his fellow soldiers. This song is the second single off of the forthcoming album Buffalo National River Songs, Vol. 1.
